Deal on Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1: save 17% and get this for just $232.39

We see a lot of Bluetooth speakers that can be used outside, and most of them are built like tanks. The new Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 (2nd Gen) is similar to the first version, but it is completely waterproof. Also, the sound quality and battery life have been improved, and support for Amazon Alexa has been added for good measure.

Even though it seems a bit pricey for a mono model, there’s not much else to worry about here. This is still the best portable speaker when it comes to style and a design that works well in the outdoors. The Beosound A1 is a round, upward-firing speaker that comes in black, gray, green, or pink. Its ends are rounded.

  • Powerful, rich, well-defined audio
  • Handsome design
  • Waterproof build
  • Supports Amazon Alexa

Given how loud it can get, its size (HW) of 5.2 by 1.8 inches is pretty small, but it does weigh 1.2 pounds. On the top panel, there are tiny oval speaker grille holes, and one of them has a small status LED in it. The side panel has a brown leather lanyard with a Bang & Olufsen name on a metal cinch. This is a nice natural touch.

On one side of the strap, there are push buttons for power, pairing, and muting the microphone. On the other side are buttons to play/pause and turn up/down the volume. If you press the play/pause button twice, you can skip forward one track. If you press it three times, you can go backward. With the button, you can also answer calls that come in.

Under the grille, a single 3.5-inch woofer and a single 0.4-inch tweeter are powered by two dedicated 30-watt Class D amplifiers to make mono music with a frequency range of 55Hz to 20kHz. The amazing IP67 rating of the Beosound A1 means that the speaker is completely waterproof.

How to get Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 2nd Gen?

The 7 in the rating means that it can be safely submerged up to one meter. Even though Bluetooth doesn’t work well underwater, you can wash the speaker under the sink or let it get wet in the rain or by the pool without any problems. The 6 in the rating means that the speaker is dust-tight and that no solids can get inside. This is a little odd given that the USB-C charging port is exposed, but we’ll take B&O’s word for it.
