Deal on JBL Bar 5.1 Surround Soundbar for only $399

The JBL Bar 5.1 Surround is a 5.1 configuration that uses “Multibeam” technology to enhance surround performance without the need for rear satellites. Its sound profile offers punchy, boomy bass suitable for action movies and EDM music. It also features room correction, and you can stream music to the bar using a variety of wireless options. Unfortunately, it does not support Dolby Atmos and equalization options are limited. The JBL Bar 5.1 is good for mixed use. This soundbar offers punchy, booming sound suitable for bass-rich music and action movies. However, it has only two EQ presets and does not support Atmos.

Although it can achieve sufficient volume for a large or crowded room, rumble and compression artifacts also occur at maximum volume. On the other hand, you can use this bar as a hub between your TV and other devices. It also features room correction to improve sound. The JBL Bar 5.1 Soundbar is a stylish soundbar with a matte black finish. The front and sides are covered with a thin metal grille. The subwoofer of this soundbar rests on four plastic pegs, while the speaker sits below. The subwoofer is made of black melamine, which makes it look elegant. It is likely that this soundbar will not fit between the legs of a 55-inch TV.

However, it is not very tall, so it should not block the bottom of the TV screen unless it is placed flush with the table. The subwoofer is a bit tall because it has small legs that raise it off the ground. However, it is about the size of a standard desktop PC. The back of the bar has an opening for the power cord and inputs. The underside also has universal holes for wall mounting. The JBL Bar 5.1 has excellent build quality. It has a sturdy plastic body with a thin metal grille to protect the front and sides. In comparison, the body of the subwoofer is made of melamine and has four legs to lift the sub as the speaker sits below it.

The stereo frequency response of this soundbar is unobtrusive. It is capable of producing powerful, boomy bass, suitable for action movies or EDM music. Although the treble is a bit dark and veiled, it should still be suitable for most audio content. However, if you want to adjust the sound, “Smart Mode” equalization is available. The stereo soundstage of the JBL Bar 5.1 is adequate. It is a little wider than the bar, but the bar does not do any tricks to make it seem wider.

The soundstage also does not seem very focused, and objects seem to come from a general area rather than from specific points. The JBL Bar 5.1 has acceptable sound enhancement functions. It has only two EQ presets: “Smart Mode,” which helps improve sound effects, and “Standard,” which turns Smart Mode off. Room correction and night mode are also present. Although there is no dialogue enhancement function, the manufacturer recommends using “Standard” mode for voice-centered content to reduce sound effects.
