Deal on Logitech G733 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset for only $119

From the outset, everything about the Logitech G733 Lightspeed headset is a rallying cry. This is a brightly colored all-plastic device with a punchy headband, colorful LED light strips, and rather odd angles. Basically, in a list of hallmarks, this headset ticks all the boxes, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The design of the Logitech G733 Lightspeed is understated and makes many of these elements quite pleasing. The plastic is flexible, but there are few points of movement or tension, so it feels sturdy.

The LEDs are bright, but there are not many (they occupy only narrow strips on the front of the headset). As garish as the G733 Lightspeed is, it is also very comfortable. The Logitech G733 Lightspeed are discreet wireless gaming headsets. They feature a distinctive, lightweight design that is also quite comfortable, and a very well-balanced sound profile, so they are versatile enough for listening to a wide variety of audio content. The companion app also offers a huge selection of options to fit them exactly to one’s taste. Unfortunately, they have rather inconsistent audio output, are not particularly portable, and fail to filter out background noise.

That said, if you are looking for highly customizable wireless gaming headsets, they are a good option. The Logitech G733 Lightspeed are great for wireless gaming. They offer a highly customizable user experience thanks to the feature-rich companion software and have a well-balanced default audio profile that suits a wide variety of games, not to mention reasonably low wireless latency. Meanwhile, the detachable boom microphone does an outstanding job of making speech clear, even when playing in a noisy environment. Unfortunately, their reliance on a proprietary USB wireless dongle means they are not compatible with Xbox One consoles.

Logitech claims that the G733 Lightspeed can last up to 29 hours on a single charge with the LEDs off. In our tests we found that the headphones lasted 28 hours and 26 minutes on a single charge and with a constant output of 75 dB, so pretty much in line with what was advertised. If you usually keep the volume lower, you might get even better results, but be aware that LEDs require a lot of power. If you want to keep the lights on, expect a few hours less battery life, but that’s nothing to sneeze at.

The Logitech G733s have an easy-to-use but somewhat limited control scheme. There is a dedicated on/off button, an infinite scroll wheel for volume adjustment, and a microphone muting button whose function can be remapped in the headset companion app. The volume adjustment wheel has no physical notch and is easy to adjust accidentally, but it beeps to signal when the maximum volume is reached. There are also audio signals for turning the microphone on and off, which is good since the buttons themselves do not offer much tactile feedback.

These gaming headsets have a reasonably well-balanced sound profile. They should be suitable for listening to a wide variety of audio content. That said, those who prefer a bit more noise and rumble in games or music may be a bit disappointed with the slightly underwhelming default bass response. Fortunately, the default sound profile can be changed via audio presets or the graphic equalizer in the accompanying Logitech G HUB software.
