Deal on Razer Ornata Chroma: flat 50% OFF on $99.99

The Razer Ornata Chroma gaming keyboard is very good. It has special buttons that feel like a mix of touchscreen and clicky mechanical buttons. But the pre-travel distance is a bit deeper than on some other switches, which might make it feel like it takes a bit longer to turn on. On the plus side, the board is made pretty well and has full RGB lighting that can be changed through the software.

What’s the big deal about the Ornata Chroma from Razer? Switches that mix the most important parts of the most popular typing technologies on consumer keyboards. Razer calls this technology “Mecha-Membrane,” and it is exactly what it sounds like: a combination of its own mechanical switch and a silicone cap. When you hit a key, the mechanical switch pushes down on the top so that the stroke can be recorded.

Features:

  • Good typing experience.
  • Full RGB lighting, customizable.
  • Good ergonomics.

This means you don’t need a full version of either type of switch, but you still get some of what is said to be the benefit of each. But that’s all done behind the scenes. The new keycaps, which are about half as tall as the old ones, are something you are more likely to be able to see. Razer says that the shorter cap “reduce the time it takes for your actions to register,” so you can type faster and land more hits in games that require quick responses.

Razer also gives you a big, plush wrist rest that attaches to the front of the keyboard with magnets. This gives you a place to rest your hands when the action slows down. Even so, given that the keyboard also has 10-key rollover and 10-key anti-ghosting, it is a good choice.

How to get Razer Ornata Chroma Gaming Keyboard?

The Ornata Chroma looks like a normal gaming keyboard in every other way. Its dimensions are nothing special (1.22 by 18.22 by 6.06 inches, HWD), and it’s all black except for the backlighting, which, according to the Chroma branding, can be changed with the free Razer Synapse software to any of 16.8 million colors, in a number of pre-set patterns, or in a layout you design yourself.
