Deal on Samsung Galaxy A22 5G: Get this smartphone in $185.95

The Galaxy A22 is the LTE version of the Galaxy A22 5G, which we have already reviewed. Both phones were announced at the same time in June, but we didn’t get to review the LTE version until now. The Galaxy A22 LTE is an affordable phone with some good features, like a fast 90Hz AMOLED screen, a flexible quad-camera setup, and a big 5,000mAh battery.

That’s a good base, even if it’s not quite as good as some of its siblings with higher numbers. Samsung has been putting a lot of money into its Galaxy A line of devices, especially since the “Awesome is for Everyone” campaign started in March and the Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72 were released, as well as the Galaxy A32 a little while before that. The Galaxy A22 is a little lower on the food chain, but it still gets many of the benefits of being a Galaxy A phone.

  • a predictably solid affordable phone
  • with a strong main camera and exemplary stamina
  • A big battery lasts a good long time between charges, and thereโ€™s a charger in the box
  • Solid construction might not be high-end, but it looks smart
  • The 90Hz display gets the job done at this price

However, there are some strange ridges near the front and back edges. Like those other phones, this one has a plastic back that looks like glass, but the finish is matte instead of shiny. In terms of colour, you can choose between grey, white, and violet. My model is available in a silky white colour, so at least those greasy fingerprints won’t show up. The Galaxy A22 5G’s camera module is another difference from those other Samsung phones.

Here, the three camera sensors and flash are set up in a square with rounded corners instead of in a line. Again, the design of Samsung’s A-series is reassuringly solid and not too flashy. It’s not going to win any beauty contests, but it’s so plain that you could pull it out of a school bag or a suit pocket without anyone giving you a funny look. But, unlike the Galaxy A32 5G, this phone is not small.

It’s easy to handle at 9mm thick and 203g, but it doesn’t blend into the background as much as its “normcore” style would suggest it wants to. Strangely, the display on the cheaper Galaxy A22 5G is better than the one on the more expensive Galaxy A32 5G, but it’s still not a standout feature. You get a 6.6-inch TFT LCD, which means you don’t even get the improved viewing angles of an IPS panel, let alone the bright colours of a full AMOLED screen. But at least the resolution here is FHD+, or 1080 x 2400.

How to buy Samsung Galaxy A22 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G looks similar to other phones in the A-series, like the Galaxy A32 5G and the Galaxy A52 5G, in terms of how it’s put together. There are, however, some small differences to be found. The body is made of plastic and has a curved edge that looks like metal.
