Save $80 on Moto G Power (2022) at Best Buy

Motorola has used a reliable formula for the Moto G Power for a few years now: a large display, solid cameras, and a large battery. That worked pretty well for the 2021 edition, even if it was not perfect. The 2022 model now brings a slight refresh to the design and a few important updates.

Motorola’s Moto G series has grown into a quartet as we head into 2022, and the latest Moto G Power is at the top of the list. It’s still below the Moto G Stylus, but above the Moto G Play and the super-budget Moto G Pure. It’s available in two configurations, with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on board.

The Moto G Power ships with Android 11, and we should expect a future update to Android 12 and two years of security patches. Buyers in Europe will have to wait for the inevitable Moto G11 Power, as Motorola has been offering slightly different products outside of the US lately.

One of the most significant changes for the Moto G Power is the switch from a Snapdragon chipset to the Mediatek Helio G37. The increased RAM and storage over the base 2021 model highlights the Moto G Power’s branding, as does the large 5,000 mAh battery. However, Motorola has made the odd decision to reduce wired charging from 15W to just 10W.

The Moto G Power features a slightly smaller 6.5-inch HD+ display with a central pinhole camera. Despite the smaller size, the new version offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz compared to the previous 60 Hz mark. Motorola has also moved the fingerprint reader from the side power button to the back.

In the box, there’s a USB-A to USB-C cable, a 10W charging pad, and a SIM eject tool. Motorola includes basic documentation as well as a quick start guide and warranty information.

The Moto G Power impressed us with its camera setup last year, and Motorola has refined things a bit more this time around. The triple camera array has been moved from the center of the back to the upper left corner, and the main camera has been bumped up from 48 MP to 50 MP.
