Icedrive is the newest storage service, but its high level of security and ease of use are already good signs. It still has a few rough spots, but you can’t beat 10GB of free storage. Read our full review of Icedrive to find out more. Icedrive is a new cloud storage service with a lot of promise. It focuses on privacy tools and security. Icedrive seems to have a bright future because it has a beautiful user interface and very good security features.
But it is entering a field that is already full of cloud services, so it will have to work hard to stand out. Find out how Icedrive stacks up against the other apps in this full review of Icedrive. Since it came out, Icedrive has steadily grown and made its service better. Its main selling point is its airtight, zero-knowledge encryption, and it has made a few choices that set it apart from other cloud services.
But it’s still missing some important cloud storage app features, and there are better options on our list of the safest cloud storage services. Icedrive has a sleek and easy-to-use interface, and it’s also easy on your internal hard drive because files are never permanently downloaded to your computer. The free plan gives you 10 GB of storage for free, which is a lot. But it still doesn’t have enough ways to work together or integrate with other productivity apps like Google Docs and Microsoft 365.

IceDrive: Interface and Use
IceDrive’s interface is clean and easy to use. Even if you’ve never used cloud storage before, it will take you a long time to figure out how IceDrive works. It’s very quick to look for files and move between pages, and it’s also very quick to upload documents to your account. It’s also easy to share files and folders with people by entering their email address or creating public links to them. Shared content can have passwords and end dates, but there aren’t many other ways to work together.
We found that the browser made the whole experience much smoother. It looks just as modern as Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive, which all put a lot of emphasis on the user experience. The desktop app, in our case the macOS version, made things a little less fun because the layout wasn’t very clear. The browser-based upload and download times were a little slower than with other cloud storage services we have tried, but not enough to be noticeable. With the macOS client, it took a lot longer to upload, but the desktop client worked as expected when it came to download speeds.
Zero-Knowledge Encryption
Zero-Knowledge encryption means that no one but you can read or access the information you’ve stored. No one can get into your data without your Master Password. Zero Knowledge Encryption is included in all of Icedrive’s paid plans at no extra cost. Unlike pCloud. This feature gives you a place to store all your sensitive information in an encrypted area that you can protect with a passcode.
All encrypted files can be found under the “Encrypted” tab. What makes Icedrive special is that you can choose which files you want to encrypt. You get storage space that is both encrypted and not. We use regular storage space to keep things that we need to get to often. For private and sensitive data, encryption is used to store it.
IceDrive: Free Storage
Icedrive has both a free plan and paid plans that are very cheap. You get 10GB of free cloud storage with a free Icedrive account, which is pretty cool. Unlike pCloud, it doesn’t give you extra storage space when you do things like install the desktop app or other tasks.
Icedrive is a service that is pretty easy to use. If you sign up for a free account with your email, you’ll get the full 10GB of storage without any hidden requirements. The only bad thing about Icedrive is that none of their paid plans come with a free trial. But they do offer a money-back guarantee for 14 days.
Access Icedrive From Almost Any Platform And Device
One of the main reasons people choose cloud storage is so they can easily get to their files. With this mix of web and mobile apps, you can interact with, manage, and use your cloud storage on multiple devices almost without a hitch. The mobile app is great for people who have a lot of media or important data on their phone. The full backup option gives you a backup in case you lose your device, and their larger Pro/Pro+ plans offer 1TB/5TB of cloud storage, which is perfect for all those photos and videos.
You can also easily manage your files from anywhere thanks to the mobile interface. Imagine being able to organize your files for a big meeting from your phone while you’re on the train or bus. The version of the service that works in a web browser is also fine: Icedrive changes a lot of common file types into a format that can be shown in a browser. It’s a big help when you need to see something quickly on a device you don’t know well and that might not have the right software to open some formats.
IceDrive: Security
IceDrive is the only cloud storage service that uses Twofish, which is thought to be the safest encryption algorithm. IceDrive also offers encryption on the client side, which means that your data is encrypted on your device before it is sent to the servers.
And IceDrive uses a method called “zero-knowledge,” which means that only you can see and decrypt your files. Note that only paying customers can use the encrypted drive that is separate from the main drive. We like that two-factor authentication, which can be done with an authenticator or a physical key, has been added, but it’s annoying that only premium customers can use SMS authentication.
IceDrive: Applications
Icedrive can be used in many ways, such as through the web app, the desktop app, and the mobile app. Icedrive works on Windows, Linux, and Mac computers, and there are mobile apps for both Android and Apple iOS. The web app is easy to use, and you can choose between a list view and a view with big icons.
We like the second one better because the big thumbnails are easier on the eyes. When you right-click on a file or folder, a menu will appear at the top. If we choose one of the options, we can manage or change my file. We just drag and drop files into the web app to upload them to my Icedrive.
Final Words
Icedrive has an easy-to-use interface that was made with care and makes it look stunningly elegant. It gives you 10GB for free right away without asking any questions, and the paid plans are a great deal. Icedrive is a great choice if strong security and privacy are high on your list of must-haves.
