Senator Ed Hooper, who narrowly missed the cup last year, came in at No. 21 on Tampa Bay’s list of most powerful politicians this year after taking leadership positions in the Senate.
Hooper, who was first elected to SD 16 in 2018, has gradually worked his way up Florida’s political ranks. He previously served eight years in the Florida House of Representatives before his election to the Senate, which came after an unsuccessful bid for the Pinellas County Commission.
“President Hooper and I were elected to Florida House together in 2006 and have been close friends ever since. A quiet pillar for his community, Senator Hooper leads with calm demeanor and a steady hand. He fights hard when warranted and is happy to share the limelight.
