7th Year of Girls & Science at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science held virtually

DENVER, Colorado (KRDO) – The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is virtually hosting the Girls and Science event for two weeks this month.

The event is a science adventure, where girls ages 8-18 can explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) fields in a whole new virtual format. This is the seventh year of the event.

Although the pandemic has hampered the ability to meet in person, organizers still say this program is too important to be canceled.

“We love to create this environment to represent women and other minority groups who are in these careers,” said Nicole Nicole Neu-Yagle, assistant in earth sciences for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

According to the organizers, only 1 in 4 jobs in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) are held by women. Girls and Science allows young girls to speak with career mentors, watch presentations, hands-on activities, and organize conversations to inspire more girls in STEM fields.
