Millions of small businesses could be eligible for new or enhanced subsidy programs if some of the provisions of the Covid-19 relief bill passed by the House become law.
The grants, which are part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 passed by the House on Saturday, are still expected to be considered in the Senate version of the legislation and passed by Congress before going to President Joe Biden for his signature. And parts of the legislation may already be at risk, with Democrats facing a setback to a minimum wage of $ 15 an hour that will likely prevent its inclusion in the Senate version.
