YREVAN, Armenia (AP) – The Armenian prime minister on Tuesday marked a political point in his row with senior military officials, pushing forward his motion to fire the country’s top military officer.
A political crisis sparked by Armenia’s defeat in the conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region escalated last week when the army general staff demanded the resignation of the army. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following his decision to impeach a senior general. Pashinyan responded by sacking the Chief of the General Staff, Colonel General Onik Gasparyan.
