Audio Pro A15 review (2023) a portable speaker for outdoor

Audio Pro's new A15 wireless speaker offers 11 hours of battery life and supports AirPlay 2 and Google Cast.

Audio Pro makes some of the best multi-room speakers on the market, and now it’s adding a brand new model to its line. The A15 is made to be used in the great outdoors, as you can see in the picture above. Who can vouch for it? Not only does the speaker have a handle, but it also has an IPX2 rating, which means it can be tipped up to 15 degrees and still work even if water drips on it.

Audio Pro A15: Description

Some of Audio Pro’s other speakers, like the A10 and A26, are made of the same material as the A15. And because it has Wi-Fi, it works well with these speakers and many others to make a system that works in more than one room. You can play a different song in each room or the same song throughout the house and garden, as long as your Wi-Fi network reaches that far. You have a choice you can buy this product directly from amazon.

You can also choose from many wireless technologies. It works with Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Audio Pro’s own multi-room system. This means you can pair it with other Audio Pro speakers or speakers from other brands that work with AirPlay and Cast. The built-in rechargeable battery can run for 11 hours, which should be enough for any summer party in the garden. That’s at 50% volume. At full volume, it should last for eight hours before it needs to be plugged in.

Design and Setup

Audio Pro A15 review

An Audio Pro speaker will always look like it belongs. The style of their products is very Scandinavian, and they are great for a modern home. The Audio Pro A15 is proof of that. It’s smart and stylish, with a brushed metal panel on top and a mesh cover. It comes in both dark grey and light grey, so it should go with most decors.

It’s held up by a ridged plastic base, and there’s a handle on the back so you can move it around. This is good, because the device is quite heavy, measuring 206 x 286 x 137 mm and weighing 3.4kg. It’s a portable speaker, but you won’t be taking it with you anywhere. If you do use it outside, it can handle light splashes of rain because it has IPX2 water resistance.

There are a few buttons on top, including a big volume button in the middle, that let you control both the speaker and the music. Aside from that, there are buttons to turn it on, pause or play the music, and skip backwards or forwards through tracks. There are also six preset buttons that give you quick access to your favorite playlists, Internet radio stations, or other audio content.

There are several ways to connect your devices to the speaker, but Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are the most common. The Audio Pro A15 can be used with other Audio Pro multiroom devices, as well as with both Google Home and Apple Home. For devices that don’t connect wirelessly, you’ll be able to use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect to it. There is also an output for connecting a second subwoofer if you wanted to.

Audio Pro A15: Sound quality

Audio Pro A15 review

The speaker system is very powerful, with a 10W and 30W amplifier, a 1-inch textile dome tweeter, and a 4.5-inch woofer. It works with MP3, WMA, AAC, and FLAC codecs from Apple. You get a powerful, clear, and focused sound, which is what we have come to expect from Audio Pro devices. The balance between the different frequencies is perfect. The low end is strong, the highs are clear, and the mids have enough force to get through.

There’s a lot of energy, but it doesn’t get in the way of the details. You can hear the depth of each instrument, and the sound from this speaker will easily fill the room. The only thing I don’t like about it is that because of how it’s made, it’s different when you stand behind it, so it’s best to put it against a wall.

The Audio Pro app on your phone has manual equalizer settings that let you change the sound to your liking. You’ll be able to turn the treble and bass up or down. It’s too bad there aren’t more settings, but at least there are some.

Final Words

We’d say it’s worth taking a chance on the Audio Pro A15 if it was much cheaper than the Sonos Move. But in the US, they’re almost the same price. When it came out in 2019, the Sonos Move cost $399, £399, or AU$649. Discounts are still very rare. The Audio Pro A15 costs $400/£350, which is about AU$530. The price in Australia hasn’t been set yet, but it will be around that amount.

So, the A15 costs the same as the Sonos Move in the US, a little less in the UK, and could be a lot less in Australia (provided Audio Pro uses a straight conversion when working out the price in this region). So, if you’re deciding between the Sonos Move and the A15, you don’t have to buy based on price alone, and the Move might be a better choice because it has more features.
