Unifor, the union representing workers at Ford’s Oakville Assembly Complex, has extended its strike deadline as negotiations with the automaker continue. Local 707, the branch representing the workers, plans to establish picket lines at the assembly plant if a strike is called. Meanwhile, United Auto Workers (UAW) members in the US have been on strike for five days. Unifor workers at General Motors and Stellantis will remain on the job regardless of the outcome at the bargaining table. Pensions and benefits remain sticking points in the negotiations.
