Beaufort County health officials move forward with group three vaccinations

WASHINGTON, North Carolina (WNCT) – Beaufort County health officials are moving forward with vaccinations and offering the vaccines to educators and other leaders in Group Three.

An employee of the county health department was expecting a shipment of vaccines on Monday. The first people in Group Three to get the shots will be those working in schools, courts and other vital government positions.

“I think 14,000 to 20,000 people are eligible,” said James Madson, Beaufort County health director. “I expect a lot of them won’t necessarily want the vaccine just yet.”

Madson said his team is doing around 500 vaccinations per week. He hopes to increase that figure to 600 per week around March 9.
