Having the best gaming mouse can give you the edge you need to win in fast games like Valorant or Apex Legends. As with outfits, there is a gaming mouse for every occasion, and we’ve tried them all to find the one that suits you best. Think of us as your rodent tailors. In fact, scratch that. Anyway, there are a lot of mouse options – almost one for every kind. So we’ve gone out and tested a whole bunch of mice, to find the most exquisite breeds to complement your gaming prowess.
Why choose a gaming mouse over an average optical mouse? First of all, the sensors in a gaming mouse are designed to be more responsive and accurate, with little or no smoothing or acceleration to keep you from aiming. They’re also designed to have programmable buttons that are more accessible than a traditional mouse, so you won’t have to fumble with your keyboard while you’re on a star-shooting track. If you want to be the best, your hands deserve the best gaming mouse (next to the best gaming keyboard, of course).
Best Gaming Mouse
Professional gamers usually recommend lighter, simpler mice with few buttons to get in your way. Lighter mice don’t tire your wrist and slide easily over the mouse pad at high speed. Anything that weighs less than 100 grams is often ideal for competition mice. But it has to be said that you feel powerful at the helm of a nice heavy mouse. So we have a few recommendations on this subject as well.
1. Razer Deathadder V2
The best gaming mouse for most gamers
Razer DeathAdder v2 Gaming Mouse: 20K DPI Optical Sensor - Fastest Gaming...
- The #1 Best-Selling Gaming Peripherals Manufacturer in the US: Source - The NPD Group, Inc., U.S. Retail Tracking Service, Gaming Designed: Keyboards, Mice, PC Headsets, and PC Microphones, Based on dollar sales, Jan. 2017- June 2020 combined

- Focus+ 20K DPI Optical Sensor: Auto-calibrates across mouse mat and reduces cursor drift from lift-off and landing for industry-leading precision
- 3x Faster Than Traditional Mechanical Switches: New Razer optical mouse switches uses light beam-based actuation, registering button presses at the speed of light
- Immersive, Customizable Chroma RGB Lighting: Supports 16.8 million colors w/ included preset profiles; syncs with gameplay and Razer Chroma-enabled peripherals and Philips Hue products
- 8 Programmable Buttons: Allows for button remapping and assignment of complex macro functions through Razer Synapse 3
- Drag-Free Cord for Wireless-Like Performance: Razer Speedflex cables eliminate the need for mouse bungees, drastically reducing weight and drag for absolute control
The Razer Deathadder has a fantastic shape for all kinds of handshakes and sizes, and I’ve spent hundreds of hours playing games, using Photoshop, and surfing the Internet with it. Despite years of iterations, the Razer never has fun with the Deathadder shape. There is no reason to. The Deathadder V2 uses a 20,000 DPI Razer Focus+ optical sensor, and while large numbers are not necessarily synonymous with quality, here they are.
Razer’s latest technology allows for seamless tracking, even if you move the mouse as fast as humanly possible. For most games and gamers, the Deathadder V2 is a fantastic mouse. Its design is simple and unadorned, with two perfectly placed and generously sized thumb buttons. I also have an excellent optical mouse sensor that works on both cloth and hard pads, and it has the ultimate body shape for a claw or claw/palm hybrid grip. For now, this is the best gaming mouse that you can buy.
2. Logitech G502 Lightspeed
Best Gaming Mouse Splurge
Logitech G502 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse with HERO 16K Sensor, PowerPlay Compatible,...
- World’s No.1 Best Selling Wireless Gaming Gear Brand - Based on independent sales data (FEB ‘19 - FEB’20) of Wireless Gaming Keyboard, Mice, & PC Headset in units from: US, CA, CN, JP, KR, TW, TH, IN, DE, FR, RU, UK, SE, TR

A lighter, wireless version of the popular Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum, the Logitech G502 Lightspeed is the best gaming mouse for your arsenal if you can handle the price. With premium features, like six extra weights (two 4g and four 2g) to customize the mouse touch, the G502 Lightspeed starts to pay for itself. With Logitech’s high-performance, low-power Hero sensor, and a large number of programmable buttons, the G502 Lightspeed is suitable for all types of gaming. Its shape is familiar and comfortable, designed in the style of a first-person shooter.
In addition to connecting to your PC with a wireless dongle, you can make sure you never have to connect the G502 Lightspeed to a cable, not even to charge it. With the Logitech G Powerplay Wireless Charging Mouse Pad, the mouse is always charged as long as the pad is plugged into a USB port. Unfortunately, the mousepad does not allow you to use either of the G502 Lightspeed’s two 4g weights and costs an additional $120.
3. SteelSeries Rival 3
Best Budget Gaming Mouse
SteelSeries Rival 3 Gaming Mouse - 8,500 CPI TrueMove Core Optical Sensor...
- Hyper durable materials – Engineered with high-grade polymer for durability
- 60 million click mechanical switches – To feel crisp from the first click to the last

- Brilliant prism lighting – Redesigned lighting provides 3 zones of 16 8 million beautifully crisp colors
- Brilliant prism lighting – Redesigned lighting provides 3 zones of 16 8 million beautifully crisp colors
The SteelSeries Rival 3 is the best gaming mouse for those on a limited budget. It is available for only $44 at the time of writing. The optical sensor here is only 8,500 CPI, which is low compared to the other mice shown on this page, such as the 20,000 CPI Razer DeathAdder V2. But for casual gamers, this will do the trick. Unfortunately, CPI adjustments are difficult because of a small CPI button, but the response was excellent in our tests.
You will also want to note that its speed of 300 IPS is only possible with the SteelSeries QcK series gaming mousepads, but fortunately, these represent some of the best RGB mousepads available, according to our tests. The most difficult part of playing with the Rival 3 was its 2.5-meter long rubber USB cable, which was a noticeable drag compared to braided cables (or a wireless connection). But at least you get three customizable RGB zones and a comfortable grip.
4. Corsair Ironclaw RGB
Best Gaming Mouse for Big Hands
Corsair Ironclaw RGB - FPS and MOBA Gaming Mouse - 18,000 DPI...
- Perfect for Larger Hands and Palm Grips: Lightweight at 105g and a contoured shape that’s sculpted specifically for palm-grips and larger hands
- CORSAIR’s Most Advanced Optical Gaming Sensor Yet: Native 18,000 DPI, adjustable in 1 DPI resolution steps gives you total sensitivity customization and ultra-accurate tracking
- Ultra-Durable Omron Switches: Rated for more than 50 million clicks
- Seven Fully Programmable Buttons: Customize the way you play with powerful macros or key remaps giving you an in-game advantage
- Dynamic, Two-Zone RGB Backlighting: Experience dozens of customizable presets and effects to perfectly match your setup
The Corsair Ironclaw RGB wireless pointer (also available in the wired form) is one of the best gaming mice for those with large, wide hands and wide handles. It is the thickest mouse here, measuring 3 inches (77 mm) at its widest point. It is so incredibly comfortable for right-handed people that we nicknamed it Palmhugger. The Pixart PMW3391 optical sensor of this mouse has a high IPC of 18,000 and also has one of the best IPS values around 450.
These are high-end features, but unless you’re a competitive gamer, you may not notice much improvement over your competitors unless you have a multi-monitor gaming configuration. At 4.59 ounces, this is not a lightweight clicker, and FPS players may find it difficult to make other design choices here, such as button layout. Nevertheless, when we played with the Ironclaw RGB Wireless, the action was smooth and, despite its wireless configuration, we didn’t notice any latency.
5. Steelseries Sensei 310
The best ambidextrous gaming mouse
SteelSeries Sensei 310 Gaming Mouse - 12,000 CPI TrueMove3 Optical Sensor -...
- Custom TrueMove3 12,000 CPI, 350 IPS optical 1 to 1 tracking esports sensor
- Legendary SteelSeries Sensei ambidextrous design for claw and palm grip styles
- Exclusive split trigger left/right buttons deliver guaranteed 50 million click durability
- Custom TrueMove3 12,000 CPI, 350 IPS optical 1 to 1 tracking esports sensor
- Legendary SteelSeries Sensei ambidextrous design for claw and palm grip styles
- Exclusive split trigger left/right buttons deliver guaranteed 50 million click durability
- 2 zone, multi color Prism RGB illumination for customizable lighting; Save all your performance and lighting settings directly to the Sensei 310
- Compatible operating system is windows, mac, and linux; Usb port required; Software is steelseries engine 3.10.12 plus, for windows 7 or newer and mac osx 10.8 or newer
The updated version of this pillar of the steel mill, the Sensei 310, has subtly reinvented a classic mouse. It needed it. Almost everything is new, except the ambidextrous form of the Sensei, and that’s exactly how it should be. Thanks to a new plastic, the Sensei has a better grip and can get rid of a sweaty palm. Steelseries also uses its own customized version of one of the best gaming sensors, which ensures that the Sensei 310 will not suffer from any tracking problems.
The Sensei 310 fits in your hand just like the old Sensei and is ideal for left- or right-handed players looking for a medium-sized ambidextrous mouse. This means it has an identical pair of buttons on the left and right, a common problem for ambidextrous mice – it can be far too easy to accidentally click the buttons on the wrong side while holding it by your pinkie. In my hours of testing the Sensei 310, this hasn’t happened once. This surely is the best gaming mouse right now.
6. Razer Basilisk V2
Best FPS / RTS Gaming Mouse

- Focus+ 20K DPI Optical Sensor: Offers an on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment through dedicated DPI buttons (programmable) for gaming

- 11 Programmable Buttons: Allows for reconfiguration and assignment of complex macro functions through Razer Synapse 3
- Drag-Free Cord for Wireless-Like Performance: Razer Speedflex cables eliminate the need for mouse bungees, drastically reducing weight and drag for absolute control
The Razer Basilisk V2 is the best gaming mouse for FPS / RTS players who can’t afford to make any mistakes. The new mouse sensor has impressive features, including an IPC of 20,000. When we played with the Basilisk V2, the tracking was excellent and we didn’t get a single false click. Compared to its competitors, such as the Razer DeathAdder V2, the Basilisk V2 has a winning layout with larger and more accessible side buttons. Basilisk V2’s scroll wheel resistance is also customizable, as are 11 of its s buttons, so in the end, any player should be able to get the performance they want.
7. Razer Viper Ultimate
The best gaming mouse if you need a sky-high DPI
Razer Viper Ultimate Hyperspeed Lightest Wireless Gaming Mouse & RGB Charging Dock:...
2017- June 2020 combined.
2017- June 2020 combined.
- 25% Quicker Than Competing Wireless Mice: Razer HyperSpeed wireless technology brings together extreme low-latency and interference reduction for true wireless freedom
- The Lightest, Zero-Compromise Wireless Esports Gaming Mouse at 74g: The Razer Viper Ultimate includes a 20K DPI optical sensor befitting the most serious gamers without the need for drilled holes
- Faster Than Traditional Mechanical Switches: New Razer optical mouse switches uses light beam-based actuation, registering button presses at the speed of light
- Ambidextrous Design: Created for left and right-handed users with accessible, programmable buttons on both sides
The Razer Viper Ultimate Wireless uses Razer’s new Focus+ optical sensor, which allows up to 20,000 DPIs to be connected. This is the same as the Deathadder V2, which is more than any other mouse here. The Viper is an incredibly accurate mouse with an index of 650 IPS (the speed at which you can move the mouse before it loses tracking accuracy), which is a very high bar for tracking fast movements, and again higher than anything on this list except the Deathadder V2.
The battery runs for about 70 hours before it needs to be recharged on its cute little charging station, making it perfect for long gaming sessions. Despite its good weight and feel, the buttons themselves are a bit fragile when clicked, which prevents it from being top of the list; this is unfortunate considering the high price and all the other technologies built into the products that rival some of our best products. That being said, the wireless Viper Ultimate is an ambidextrous gaming mouse that’s pleasant to touch, incredibly accurate, and has long battery life. Overall, this is one of the best gaming mice.
8. Razer Basilisk Ultimate
Feature-Heavy Wireless Gaming Mouse
Razer Basilisk Ultimate HyperSpeed Wireless Gaming Mouse w/ Charging Dock: Fastest Gaming...
- The #1 Best-Selling Gaming Peripherals Manufacturer in the US: Source - The NPD Group, Inc., U.S. Retail Tracking Service, Keyboards, Mice, PC Headset, PC Microphone, Gaming Designed, Based on dollar sales, Jan. 2017- Mar. 2020 combined.

- 11 Programmable Buttons: Allows for reconfiguration and assignment of complex macro functions through Razer Synapse 3
- Up to 100 Hour Battery Life: An all-new, hyper-efficient sensor and wireless technology allows for extended gaming
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is a fantastically skillful wireless mouse with Razer’s latest sensor, the Focus+ Optical. This semi-intelligent sensor displays incredible statistics, with a maximum IPC of 20,000 and an IPS of 650, and is also able to withstand 50G acceleration before losing track. Combined with an impressive ergonomic design, the Basilisk Ultimate is the best gaming mouse for those who want a wireless option.
While there are similarities with Logitech’s great G502 Lightspeed wireless mouse, the Basilisk Ultimate brings a myriad of improvements over the competition. You can control the resistance of the scroll wheel, for example, the sensor is probably more accurate and the materials used are much better. In addition, Basilisk Ultimate is lighter than competitors like the G502, and Razer’s Synapse software suite runs the Logitech G-Hub.
9. Logitech G Pro Wireless
The best gaming mouse to go wireless
Logitech G Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse with Esports Grade Performance

The G Pro Wireless is unmatched in wireless pointers, thanks to Logitech’s excellent 16,000 dpi HERO sensor and the kind of latency-free experience you’d expect from a wired mouse. Weighing just over 80 grams, it’s incredibly light, but unlike some lighter mice, it doesn’t feel cheap or disposable. On the contrary, it is made of high-quality materials and its performance is up to the task. Logitech designed every component of the G Pro Wireless to be as light and durable as possible, including reducing the thickness of the chassis sidewalls without sacrificing composition or density.
Judging by the multiple hard drops the G Pro has survived from my desk, it’s a very rugged kit. It also has a 40-hour battery life and is customizable, with buttons on the side panels that can be removed and replaced with smooth inserts, if you wish. You can also pair the G Pro with Logitech’s Powerplay Charging Mat and never worry about running out of juice again. The only real drawback is price: at about $120, the G Pro isn’t cheap, but it can fully justify its place in our list of the best gaming mice.
10. Razer Naga Pro
Best Wireless MMO Mouse
Razer Naga Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse: Interchangeable Side Plate w/ 2, 6,...

- Up to 19 Programmable Buttons: Allows for button remapping and assignment of complex macro functions through Razer Synapse
- Customizable Chroma RGB Color Profiles: Supports 16.8 million color combinations w/ included preset profiles
For the ultimate in wireless MMO gaming, the Razer Naga Pro is the best gaming mouse. It is the latest addition to the Razer Naga gaming mouse range, which basically takes all the positive features of the Razer Naga Trinity listed above and makes them much more portable while improving the sensor features. The Nagao Pro features Razer‘s Focus+ optical sensor, which has a range of 20,000 CPI (compared to 16,000 CPI for the Naga Trinity), as well as 650 IPS and 50G acceleration.
You also have the option of connecting wirelessly via Bluetooth, which Razer says gives you up to 150 hours of battery life without RGB, or via the reliable Razer HyperSpeed dongle, which Razer says gives you up to 50 hours without RGB. In our tests with the dongle and RGB, the battery was discharged at about 3% per hour, although we were unable to run the mouse to death. You will have to pay a high price of $150 for this mouse.

The Logitech sensor can achieve up to 8,000 dpi if you like, and it has responsive switches to ensure flawless operation. This is the best gaming mouse that can be yours for just under $30.
You may notice that it’s similar to the G203 Prodigy that occupied the same space before it. It is almost identical in every way. The only significant difference between the two is the inclusion of three-zone RGB lighting on the Lightsync, as opposed to the single-zone lighting on the Prodigy. It’s not a big change, but one that looks like a treat and doesn’t cost more, in theory. If you can get a good deal on the G203 Prodigy, we strongly recommend that you keep it while supplies last.
