OROVILLE – Months after Bird Street Vendors opened in December 2019, Rori Summers has been caught in a chain of struggles that began with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her quaint little store at 1934 Bird Street, which sells handmade items, was forced to close in March 2020. It was then allowed to reopen in June. When September arrived, fires at the northern compound sprayed Oroville with ash, forcing another shutdown. Soon after, the construction of the road on Bird Street forced Summers to temporarily close the gates once again.
With her savings account shrinking, Summers thought maybe she should shut down the business for good.
