Bollywood’s dwarf actors have reached out to actors Sonu Sood and Salman Khan for help as they are out of work since the first lockdown. Deepak Soni, who has worked with actors like Akshay Kumar, said, “I contacted Sonu Sood and got a call from his office but he thought I needed help but I told him my colleagues needed it and if it can be done And I am waiting for his support. Another colleague of mine has spoken to Salman Khan’s Being Human Foundation, now we are waiting for his reply. Though around 8 to 10 members get Rs 1500 from him Soni had also approached Arif Khan of the Lookalike Association, who had organized ration kits for around 35 dwarf artistes living in Bollywood Mumbai. Arif Khan said, “Actors Raju Srivastava and Suhail Khandwani, who are also known as Haji Ali and Mahim is the trustee of the dargah, provided us with ration kits, which we distributed to the dwarf actors.” There are around 70 dwarf actors in Bollywood and most of them depend on acting and live shows. Soni said, “Most of them are home. are sitting or there are some who have started a paan shop to run themselves or do some independent work are doing. Only a few of them come from secure family backgrounds and have support.”
