IU donates for cancer patients on b'day

Singer-actor IU turned a year old on Sunday. She celebrated her special day with a generous donation of 500 million won (approximately US $ 440,857 US) to several foundations in Korea, such as the Korean Pediatric Cancer Foundation, YEOULDOL, the Family Association of Korean Unmarried Mothers, Comprehensive Support Center for Elderly Living Alone , Child Welfare Association and The Purme Foundation. This money will be used to treat cancer patients and children suffering from other chronic diseases. It will also aid the welfare of children and support single parent families with senior adults living alone. Sharing the idea behind IU’s thoughtful move, the actress’ agency EDAM Entertainment revealed that she wanted to heat something up on her birthday this year in the name of her fantasy, UAENA. She further added that the donation is a return gift for all the love and support that the actress has received throughout her career. On the work front, IU is currently busy shooting for its upcoming Korean film ‘Broker’ (temporarily). She will next appear in an upcoming sports comedy-drama this year alongside Park Seo-joon and Lee Ji-un. She was last seen in ‘Hotel del Luna’ and ‘Persona’.
