Despite many hardships, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ child actor Azhar Mohammad Ismail is not giving up on his dream of becoming an actor. He played the youngest version of Salim in the film and also attended the Oscars ceremony in 2009. But, fate was not as kind to him as it was shown in Danny Boyle’s film. Azhar and his mother have to shift to Aurangabad to survive by selling their house in Bollywood Mumbai. Azhar is currently living with his grandmother in Aurangabad and is training himself to make a comeback in the acting world. He says, “I am working on my personality development and I have enrolled in a gym here so that I will be fit enough to get work in films.” Azhar also plans to return to Bollywood Mumbai and test his mettle in auditions. “Mum and I will come back to buy a new house and then start looking for work in Bollywood,” he says. But why was the house given to him by Danny Boyle’s Jai Ho Trust sold by the family? Azhar says, “After Danny Uncle’s trust stopped providing maintenance, it became difficult for us to pay that amount as my mother was a housewife and I was without work. So we decided to sell the house and we went to Bandra. Bought another place in I, but maintenance was again a problem, so we sold it and moved to Aurangabad. My mother has kept the money so it can be used for our new home when we move back to Bollywood Mumbai. is.” But there were reports that the ‘Slumdog’ actor had taken drugs and this forced him to go back to the village. Azhar denies this and says, “It is a complete lie and there were some people who spread these baseless stories about me in the media. I am focused on making my career and it is my mother who always guides me.” does.” Azhar is upset for not helping his mentor Danny Boyle and Rubina Ali Qureshi, who played young Latika (the old role played by Freida Pinto) in the film. “They gave us a house but didn’t behave like actors and didn’t help us become actors,” he says. I am struggling and Rubina has become a makeup artist and is living somewhere in Nalasopara. We would have become good actors in Bollywood. My other co-actors like Aayush Khedekar (the youngest Jamal, the elder one played by Dev Patel) and Ashutosh (Kishore Saleem) are doing well for themselves. How I wish we had got that support.”
