A year ago, it was announced that actor Varun Dhawan would play the lead role in director Shashank Khaitan’s film Mr. Lele. The makers had also released the first look poster featuring Varun. Actors Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar were also to be a part of this film. However, Varun decided not to do the film and wanted Shashank to narrate the script.
When Mr. Lele was given asylum just before the epidemic hit in March 2020, the producers are now planning to pursue the project. According to reports, Shashank has reworked the script and is set to begin shooting this year. While Varun will not be a part of this project, actor Vicky Kaushal has come on board. The actor reportedly loved the entire concept of the film which is a comic take on a spy.
Meanwhile, Shashank was to begin shooting for Yoddha in February alongside Shahid Kapoor. However, with the actor abandoning the project, his plan went for a toss and the filmmaker decided to eliminate Mr. Lele. He plans to wrap up the shoot in a month that begins in March. Vicky will make Kaushal’s third film with Dharma Productions after Mr. Lele, Raazi and Bhoot.
