SRS contractor honored for his safety

The president and project manager of the liquid waste contractor of the site of Savannah River recently received a Security Leadership Award from the National Security Council.

Phil Breidenbach of Savannah River Remediation has been named one of the 2021 CEOs who “get it” by the board. The award recognizes a handful of leaders from many industries who instill a culture of safety within their organizations.

The winners are recognized in the January issue of Safety + Health magazine.

Planned hiring event

Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA’s Job Connection – Career Center will host a drive-through rental event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 26 at its Augusta location at the corner of Washington and Furys Ferry routes.

Local employers hiring at the event include the Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Corrections, Goodwill Staffing Services, Magic Learning Academy, WIS International and more.

Job seekers are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resumes, follow all directional signs, and stay in their vehicle.

VentureSouth-Aiken in $ 1.6 billion merger

Proterra, the holding company of VentureSouth-Aiken, a leading commercial electric vehicle technology company with manufacturing operations in South Carolina, will go public in a $ 1.6 billion merger with the special purpose acquisition company ArcLight Clean Transition Corp. (Nasdaq: ACTC).

VentureSouth-Aiken is a member of the VentureSouth Network based in Greenville, SC, and invests private equity in start-ups in the Southeast, with a particular focus on South Carolina.

Virtual job fair planned

The US Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration will host a virtual job fair for the nuclear security company from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 27.

The NNSA is looking to hire approximately 2,000 new employees to join its workforce in 2021 and continue to train the next generation of nuclear security professionals.

The virtual job fair will include the hiring of officials from the NNSA and its national laboratories, factories and sites, including the site of Savannah River.

Federal managers of the NNSA and management and operating partners of the NNSA will be present to interview and hire professionals in a wide range of skills and in many locations to support the United States national security mission.

Company that will donate bug protection

Local company Lawn Ace will launch its “Lawn Love” campaign on January 25. The company will donate a mosquito protection plan valued at $ 500.

From January 25 to February 13, the public can go to LawnAce.com/Lawn-Love introduce themselves or name someone they know who they think is a deserving beneficiary of this service. The winner will be announced on February 14.
