Business in downtown Chippewa Falls caught fire on Saturday afternoon

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wisconsin (WEAU) – Firefighters responded to a burning building in the 50 block of West Willow Street in Chippewa Falls on Saturday afternoon.

Chippewa Falls Fire Chief Lee Douglas said no one was at the company at the time of the blaze. The company is a repair shop and had a few buses and repair equipment inside.

When the fire crews arrived, thick black smoke was coming from behind the building. Firefighters attempted to put out the fire through the front door, but the changing heat conditions forced them out.

This business shares a common wall with two other businesses, the fire chief said.

The service of police of Chippewa Falls is asking people to stay away in order to give fire crews more space to work.
