WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden has appointed U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Commissioner Allison Herren Lee, Democrat, as interim chief financial sector regulator, the SEC said in a statement on Friday.
“During my tenure as Commissioner, I focused on climate and sustainability, and these issues will continue to be a priority for me,” said Herren Lee.
Sources said former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) chairman Gary Gensler, who led planning for Biden’s transition to financial sector oversight, would be appointed as head of the SEC.
