PARIS (Reuters) – French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Sunday that talks over French utility Suez SEVI.PA, in which rival Veolia wants to buy nearly a third of the shares, had progressed.
Earlier on Sunday, Suez rejected assurances from Veolia VIE.PA that it would not make a hostile offer for the entire company after reaching a deal to buy a 29.9% stake in the electric group Engie ENGIE .PA.
The mayor told reporters in an appeal that a deal was still possible on Suez and expressed hope that the two sides would work towards a friendly deal in the coming hours.
