ZURICH (Reuters) – Ralph Hamers, the new chief executive of UBS UBSG.S, has called on staff to stay healthy and focus on customers as Switzerland’s largest bank goes through the coronavirus pandemic.
On his first day as boss of UBS, the former head of ING INGA.AS said in a video posted on Monday that his first priority was to “get us all through this crisis”.
Hamers, who succeeds Sergio Ermotti as CEO of the world’s largest wealth manager, said his priorities are also to ensure that UBS continues to deliver good results and find ways to do even better.
“And to make sure that we continue to be successful in delivering our services to them, we need to be flexible. We have to be nimble. And that’s what I expect from you, ”he says.
He said UBS’s “very good results” so far this year showed that it had a bright future and the right business model.
“So the foundation is there. We have a very solid performance. And that gives us all the options for the future. “
