In this news, we discuss the U.S. grants ByteDance new seven-day extension of TikTok sale order – filing.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Trump administration on Wednesday granted ByteDance a new seven-day extension of an assignment order that ordered the Chinese company to sell its short video-sharing app TikTok, according to a court record.
The Trump administration previously granted ByteDance a 14-day extension to the order issued in August, which was due to expire on Friday. The new deadline is December 4, TikTok said. Under pressure from the US government, ByteDance has been in talks for months to finalize a deal with Walmart Inc and Oracle Corp to move TikTok’s US assets into a new entity. The US Treasury did not immediately comment on Wednesday.
