The Cattaraugus County Health Department reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
These 15 new positive cases bring the total number of cases in Cattaraugus County to 3,575 since the health department began tracking the virus in March.
The county’s number of active cases is 411, with 43 of those people hospitalized with the virus. There have been 71 COVID-19-related deaths in the county since the start of the pandemic and 3,092 residents have recovered from the virus.

Ten of the new cases are women and five are men. The health department recorded 1,937 female residents who tested positive for COVID-19, or 54.2% of the total cases, and 1,638 men tested positive for the virus, or 45.8% of the total cases.
Six of the new cases had reported known exposure to an individual positive for COVID-19 while nine had not reported any such contact.
Residents between the ages of 20 and 29 are still the most infected age group, accounting for 16.4% of the total number of positive cases.
The southeast quadrant has been the site of the highest number of cases since the start of the pandemic, accounting for 58.5% of the total cases. Eight of the new cases were also found in this quadrant. Of the remaining seven new cases, three were found in the northeast quadrant, two in the northwest quadrant and two in the southwest quadrant.
Cattaraugus County has an average seven-day positivity rate of 6.5%.
According to the press release from the health service, 76.9% of the cases presented symptoms while 23.1% are asymptomatic. All 15 people who tested positive on Sunday said they experienced symptoms.
Western New York Region:
The western New York area, of which Cattaraugus County is a part, had a seven-day average positivity rate of 5.89% on Saturday, according to the latest update on the site Governor’s Web. The Friday rate for western New York was 6.01%. More information on COVID-19 in the state is available here.
