POWNAL, Vermont (AP) – Officials in the southern Vermont town of Pownal were forced to postpone next week’s town hall election until the end of the month after 1,100 municipal reports sent to voters were returned by the post office due to incorrect addresses.
Reports with annual ballot and budget information must legally be sent to voters 10 days before an election, which was scheduled for Tuesday. The select council has decided to hold a new town hall meeting for March 29 and an election for March 30, Bennington Banner reported.
The school ballot will still be voted on Tuesday, but the city ballot and a separate ballot for a bond to help pay for the city’s new office project must be postponed.
