The Columbia / Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is optimistic it will begin vaccinating the next group of individuals on time next month, spokeswoman Sara Humm said on Friday.
Missouri teachers and child care providers will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations starting March 15, Governor Mike Parson said Thursday. The state plans to open vaccinations to those in phase 1B level 3. This group involves about 550,000 additional residents.
The new date is about a month earlier than initially expected by heads of state.

“I think it helps that it doesn’t take effect right away,” Humm said. “In the next two weeks, we hope to obtain more government-allocated vaccine. We hope to be able to continue to progress towards level 2. ”
