Confirm global quality and distinction in business education

The AACSB announces that 89 business schools have extended their global accreditation in business and / or accounting, and one business school has obtained the initial accounting accreditation.

TAMPA, Florida, Feb.2, 2021 / PRNewswire / – AACSB International (AACSB) today announced that 73 business schools have extended their accreditation in business, 16 have extended their accreditation in both business and accounting, and one school has achieved initial accreditation in accounting.

For over a century, AACSB accreditation has stood for the highest standards in business training. Today a total of 882 establishments in 57 countries and territories have obtained AACSB accreditation in business. In addition, 189 establishments maintain additional AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

“The AACSB congratulates each institution for their accomplishments,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer, AACSB. “Every AACSB accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development and student learning. The intense peer review process illustrates their commitment to quality business education.

Obtain accreditation is a process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB appointed mentor, and peer review. During this multi-year journey, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB accreditation standards. These standards demand excellence in areas related to strategic management and innovation; students, faculty and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional commitment.

To obtain accountancy accreditation, an institution must first obtain AACSB business accreditation. Then, in addition to developing and implementing a mission-oriented plan to meet business accreditation quality standards, accountant accreditation requires the satisfaction of an additional set of standards specific to the discipline and the accounting profession. Once accredited, each institution participates in a five-year continuous improvement peer review to maintain high quality and extend its accreditation.
