CHICAGO (WLS) – Cook County health officials said on Tuesday that a text message sent earlier asking some people to send them a photo of their vaccine card was legitimate.
Several residents who received the text contacted ABC7 Chicago saying they believed the message was a scam due to a typo and the unusual request.
In a statement, Cook County health officials said they were trying to reconcile some second dose appointments that did not have a corresponding first dose record in their system.
Anyone who has been asked to provide a verification before receiving their second dose can email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the hotline at 833.308.1988.
