Focus on Long-Term Reform and Strengthening Forensic Services

The remaining recommendations from the Commission of Inquiry focus on long-term reform and are dependent on legislative changes and progress in other areas. These include renewing forensic science infrastructure, enhancing information technology platforms, managing impacts on the criminal justice system, and strengthening the quality and scientific integrity of forensic services. The government is also conducting a large-scale recruitment drive to source scientists to staff Forensic Services Queensland and help implement the recommendations. So far, 27 scientists have been employed, and this new investment will allow for further recruitment and support.
