OHSAA Spring Sports Divisional Assignments and Football Updates
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has released the divisional breakdowns for the upcoming 2024 spring sports season and provided updates on football divisions and regions. Baseball and softball divisions are determined using competitive balance data, while other spring sports remain the same as the previous year. Changes have been made to football divisions and regions due to school closures and combinations. Parma Senior High School closure has resulted in Parma Normandy High School moving up to Division I, Region 1, and Sebring McKinley High School has been removed from Division VII, Region 25.
Baseball and Softball Divisional Assignments
The divisions for baseball and softball for the 2024 season have been determined using competitive balance data. This data ensures a fair distribution of teams across divisions. These divisional breakdowns are calculated annually based on the previous season’s data. Schools that competed in the 2023 tournament are included in these breakdowns. The division assignments for other spring sports, such as lacrosse, track and field, boys tennis, and boys volleyball, remain the same for a two-year enrollment cycle.
Football Division and Region Updates
Changes have been made to the football division and region assignments due to schools opening, closing, or combining. Parma Senior High School has closed, resulting in Parma Normandy High School moving up to Division I, Region 1. However, Parma Heights Valley Forge remains in Division II. Additionally, Sebring McKinley High School has been removed from Division VII, Region 25, as they have transitioned to playing 8-player football.
