Denver Health vaccinates over 1,000 educators at mass event

DENVER (KDVR) – Denver Health reports that more than 1,000 Denver Public School Educators (DPS) received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday.

“I am incredibly relieved,” said Ambria Reed, a teacher at McGlone Academy who is immunosuppressed. “I really feel like I’m getting a part of my life back.”

Denver Health has been in partnership with DPS for a long time. It operates several health clinics within district schools to provide free health care to DPS students. It also provided free COVID-19 tests to symptomatic students.

“Today’s efforts to immunize DPS members against COVID-19 will go a long way in helping families and parents of school-aged children feel safe through in-person learning. Plus, we know this effort goes a long way in bringing our educators closer to the classroom, ”said Dr. Steve Federico, general manager of pediatrics and school and community programs, Denver Health.

“We applaud the tremendous efforts of our educators and their support staff throughout the pandemic, including taking this step to get vaccinated. Denver Health is proud to be part of the effort to protect our teachers and students, ”…
