UF dips to No. 6 public school in nation by U.S. News & World Report
The University of Florida has lost its “top five” ranking by U.S. News & World Report, slipping into a tie for sixth place among public schools. However, UF has moved up one place among all schools nationally, including private ones, to 28th. California-Berkely and California-Los Angeles are tied for first place among public schools. Florida State University has climbed two spots to 53rd place In the final stage.
Changes in Rankings
In the “2023-2024 Best Colleges” rankings, UF is now tied for sixth place with California-Davis and California-San Diego, after being ranked fifth for two years. The rankings now place more emphasis on outcome measures related to student success and manageable debt. Several factors, such as class size and alumni giving, have been removed from the criteria.
Other Florida Universities
Florida State University has moved up two spots to 53rd place In the final stage and is now ranked 23rd among public schools. Florida Atlantic University has seen the biggest increase in the state, climbing 53 spots to 209th. The University of Miami is ranked 67th In the final stage as a private university.
