In a surprise move, Curtis’ performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once earned her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar on Sunday. She beat out front-runner Angela Bassett, whose performance in Marvel’s first-ever acting Oscar nomination, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, helped her win the award.

Together with Stephanie Hsu, who she co-starred with in Everything Everywhere All at Once, Hong Chau, and Kerry Condon from The Banshees of Inisherin were among Curtis’ rivals for best supporting actress.
Curtis added as she accepted her prize, “I know it appears like I’m standing up here by myself, but I am not. “I am many persons… We, the creative team behind this film, just received an Oscar! To the dozens and hundreds of thousands of individuals who have supported the genre films I’ve produced over the years: We recently shared an Oscar victory! Also, both my mother and father had Oscar nominations in various categories. I just received an Oscar.
