Two decades after Gabrielle Union starred in the iconic coming-of-age film 10 Things I Hate About You, she re-enacted a scene from the film with her stepdaughter Zaya.
Gabrielle Union kill the TikTok game! The 48-year-old actress took to the popular video-sharing app on March 2 to post a video with her stepdaughter Zaya, 13. The couple pieced together a scene from the iconic 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You, in which Gabby starred alongside Julia stiles and the end Ledger of health. In the video, the mother-of-one said, “Tell us you watched 10 Things I Hate About You Without Telling Us You Watched 10 Things I Hate About You.” Zaya then rang “We’re going to begin,” before reciting a much-quoted line from the coming-of-age movie.
“I know you can be overwhelmed, and you may be disappointed, but can you ever just be overwhelmed?” she joked. In the film, released at the turn of the century, Gabrielle played Bianca Stratford, the best friend of Larisa OleynikChastity of character. Gabby then responded to Zaya, in her character, “I think you can in Europe.” Fans couldn’t get enough of the funny video, with many commenting on Zaya’s fashionable look, which included a green pantsuit, purple sweater, and red braids.
“Zaya is gorgeous,” wrote one fan, while another commented, “Zaya wakes up every day and chooses to serve, and that’s what I’m here for.” The teenager, who is the daughter of the basketball star Dwyane Wade, has become an icon in the LGBTQ + community after she became transgender last year.
