Former Pro Wrestler & Jungle Cruise Skipper Accused of Sexual Misconduct Found Working at Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood
Joseph Meehan, also known as Joey Ryan, a former professional wrestler and previous Jungle Cruise Cast Member, has been accused by several women of sexual assault. Recently, he was spotted working at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, which has shocked many considering his past. Meehan had a brief stint at Disneyland Resort but was let go when he wasn’t hired full-time. His career in professional wrestling included matches for WWE, NWA, Impact Wrestling, and independent circuits.
Accusations and Fallout
In June 2020, Meehan faced accusations from at least 17 women of sexual assault and harassment. After the allegations became public, Meehan issued a lengthy apology on his now-deleted Twitter account, acknowledging his failure to treat people with respect and invading personal space. His employment with Impact Wrestling was terminated as a result. Meehan filed a defamation lawsuit against three of his accusers, winning a default judgement against one of them. However, the lawsuit involving all three was later dismissed by a judge. Meehan dropped some of the lawsuits but intends to continue pursuing legal action against Impact Wrestling.
No Criminal Charges
It’s important to note that Meehan was never criminally charged in relation to the sexual assault allegations. Therefore, a background check by Disney or Universal would not reveal his past actions. This raises concerns about the hiring practices of theme parks and the potential for individuals with a history of misconduct to be employed without knowledge of their past.
