Kehlani now identifies as a lesbian, she revealed on a friend’s Instagram Live Tuesday, April 7.

The 25-year-old singer, who previously identified as pansexual and uses she / they pronouns, opened up about her sexuality on social media.

“Do you want to know what’s new with me?” I finally know I’m a lesbian, ”she said on photographer Jamie-Lee B.’s Easter live stream.

In its recent cover with Avocado, Kehlani said his “fleeting” personality gave him “a lot of privilege.”

“I think a lot of artists we talk about and say, ‘Oh, they had to come out or they had to do this’, a lot of them can’t hide it,” she adds, while emphasizing that other black musicians, who are gay or trans, are having a much more difficult time than in the industry.

Kehlani added, “I didn’t even really need to step out into my privacy. I don’t walk on the street and people look at me and say, “Oh, I bet she’s weird” or “I bet she likes women” or something like that because of the way I present . “

“It’s quite a privilege and I think there are quite a few artists who were really at the forefront but who couldn’t make the progress that I was able to make by being myself. 100% because of the way they present and the prejudices and phobias of the American public and the world, ”she continued. “I was lucky, super lucky.”
