The son of famous cyclist Lance Armstrong, Luke, who is now 21, is accused of a rape which allegedly took place in June 2018, when he was 18 and the girl was only 16.
He was arrested and charged with sexual assault on Tuesday April 6.
The events were detailed as follows: The 16-year-old was at a party, drunk, and called Luke to pick her up. She says she doesn’t remember the car ride and when she arrived she was on a couch in an unfamiliar place. She later woke up and allegedly found Luke above her, having raped her. She says she couldn’t consent.
A phone call was reportedly made a few months ago between the 19-year-old and Luke, where he admitted to having sex with her at his father’s home in Austin, Texas. Police investigated and said they found other witnesses who corroborated his story.
Luke’s attorney issued a statement to People, denying the allegations.
“A full examination of the facts will confirm that what has been alleged absolutely did not happen and proper and thorough legal proceedings will exonerate Luke,” his lawyer said. People. “What happened three years ago in high school was neither a crime nor a sexual assault. It was then a consensual relationship and continued consensually between two young adults, the two eventually breaking up. These charges should never have been laid, certainly not three years later. Fortunately, however, the Texas justice system is working and will establish Luke’s innocence.
