A “best and final” offer was presented to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) negotiators on Saturday evening.

The WGA is expected to give a response today.

Representatives from both sides met in person at the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers headquarters in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.

The negotiations, if successful, would end the nearly five-month-long writers strike.

The so-called “Gang of Four” – Walt Disney’s Bob Iger, Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, and NBCUniversal’s Donna Langley – spent the weekend “monitoring” negotiations with guild representatives. However, they weren’t physically present. Progress was made as a “best and final” offer was presented to the WGA negotiators. The WGA is expected to respond today. The negotiations aim to end the five-month-long writers strike and address compensation, benefits, and the role of artificial intelligence in the industry.

While the writers strike may soon end, it remains to be seen whether SAG-AFTRA will resolve its own issues. The “double strike” began on July 14.
