Exxon Mobil Corp. added two new directors to its board on Monday, as the beleaguered energy company tries to push back calls for change from a pair of activist investors.
The Texas oil company has said activist investor Jeffrey Ubben will join its board of directors, alongside Michael Angelakis, CEO of Atairos Group and former CFO of Comcast Corp.
Exxon chief executive Darren Woods said the new directors were part of an ongoing effort to refresh the company’s board of directors and reflected ongoing discussions with investors.
“If you look at the changes we’ve made, they respond to the changing role of industry as we move towards a low carbon economy.”
