When 27-year-old Candy Gomez wanted to start an auto business, he didn’t just jump on it.
“We didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes, so we sat down and thought, ‘What can we do to help the community and help ourselves? “, Did he declare. “We thought a tire company was a good thing because it seemed like all these big guys were always busy.”
Candy said while talking with her friends and family it always seemed like when someone needed a quick oil change or a tire repair they would have to leave their vehicle for hours at a fair store. to keep it simple.
“People have things to do,” he says. “A tire correction literally takes 30 minutes and it’s inconvenient for someone to leave their vehicle for a long time. We thought it would be a good step to help everyone.
With this in mind, Candy opened GoGo’s Tire & Lube, 1907 W. Second St., with her younger brothers Alex and Adam.
The business background and knowledge came from their father, Candy Sr., who previously operated an automotive service and retail shop in Hastings before closing it several years ago.
“He’s the backbone of this place,” said Candy about her father.

Since opening last February, Candy has gone from just working a brother, Alex, 26, to bringing in her other brother Adam, 25, about a month ago as business picked up.
Candy said the key to their business rests on several factors. Although it is not Burlington Avenue, Candy stated that West Second Street is still very busy and there are a lot of people stopping just by car.
Word of mouth has also generated a lot of business, with friends, family and customers sharing their experience of prompt service and fair prices.
“When people come for an oil change, we inspect the vehicle,” Candy said. “And we don’t give them things they don’t need, you know. We are not here to get rich in one person. We are here to help everyone, and in turn, they will come back and do business with us and help us in the long run. We are not here to steal from anyone or sell them things they don’t need. We work with them and they work with us. “
The main focus of the business is oil changes and tire maintenance, including repairs, rotations and replacements.
Candy said she carries bulk oil and special oils if a client is looking to use something specific.
On the tire side, Candy said he was able to get in with some distributors based on his father’s experience and relationship with Mr. Tire as a CPI employee. So GoGo uses a distributor that works with Mr. Tire with American Tire Distributor, a national distributor. They also work with Wheel Pros to purchase all of their wheels.
Candy said: “With our distributors, everything we order is here the next day, so I feel that there is no need to store a lot of tires because we don’t have the space to accommodate them. He has used tires on hand for immediate situations.
In an effort to speed up the process, Candy said she even picks up and drops off vehicles for people who work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and cannot come away for routine maintenance appointments.
Candy stated that they had started to notice a demand for silent work among their clients. Fortunately, Adam is a certified welder and helps fill that need. In the future, Candy said that she hopes to acquire a bender and a pipe supplier.
Candy said he felt lucky to share his small local business and his brother’s talents and reliability. “(Adam) is a good asset, with …
