Habitat for Humanity Grants Sturgis Native Sabrina Her Dream Home
Sabrina, a Sturgis native, recently achieved her dream of providing a better home for her family with the help of Habitat for Humanity. After years of living in a crowded house with her father and two boys, Sabrina recognized the need for a happier and healthier childhood for her kids and some peace and quiet for her father. On September 25, her dream became a reality, and the community gathered to celebrate the dedication of her new home.
Sabrina had been struggling to save up for a home due to the high housing prices. She applied to Habitat for Humanity and was chosen to participate in their homeowner program. She demonstrated her need for housing, met the income eligibility, and committed to contributing 250 hours of sweat equity to help build her home and other Habitat Partner Families’ homes. She also participated in educational programs on financial management and home maintenance.
Expressing her gratitude, Sabrina said, “Without Habitat, we wouldn’t have our home.” She now makes monthly mortgage payments, which will support future Habitat Partner Families.
Putting up the last piece of her new home was a significant moment for Sabrina. She appreciates the hard work and dedication that went into making her dream a reality.
To close, Habitat for Humanity has made a positive impact on Sabrina’s life and the lives of many other families, providing them with safe and affordable housing.
