Winter storms wreaking havoc across the country are having an impact on Georgia. Public health departments are warning they may have to postpone some COVID-19 vaccinations due to weather-caused delivery delays.
Snowstorms and power outages have interrupted vaccine shipments across the country. The delay could affect first and second dose appointments with area health services.
District 2 public health spokesman Dave Palmer said those with appointments will receive their shots, but may have to wait for more shots to arrive.
“If your appointment is rescheduled, public health will contact you and give you a new time to come for your COVID-19 vaccination,” says Palmer. “If you are not contacted, your appointment will take place at the scheduled time.”
Health services will begin accepting new appointments as soon as appointments for the first and second dose are met and more vaccines become available.
