SANTA MARIA, Calif .– Homero Aparicio is one of 500 farm workers who received the COVID vaccine on Sunday at the Santa Maria health care center.
Aparicio said a colleague told him about the COVID vaccine pilot program for farm workers and immediately signed up for an appointment.
“I had to take this opportunity, and here I am,” Aparicio said.
Santa Barbara County Public Health, along with Central Coast Immigrant Advocates, are teaming up to help 500 farm workers get vaccinated against COVID.
The director of public health, Dr Do-Reynoso, was on site to help with the pilot program.
“They [farmworkers] were delighted to be here today, ”said Dr Do-Reynoso.
