SAN JOSE, Calif .– Santa Clara County health officials on Monday announced an update to the county’s COVID-19 health order, allowing the resumption of multiple outdoor activities, including youth sports and the performing arts.
The health order review will take effect Friday, county officials said. The county also plans to ease restrictions on outdoor gatherings in multiple households to discourage residents from congregating indoors, where the risk of transmitting the coronavirus is higher.
The update follows the state’s announcement last Friday that it would allow the resumption of outdoor sports for young people with a handful of caveats, requiring regular testing for contact sports like soccer and rugby and tying the resumption of certain sports such as baseball to the reopening level in which a county is placed.
