Many believe that peace is highly praised but seldom obtained. I have touched on some of the human attributes that stand in the way of personal peace, and there are many. In previous articles I have touched on self-righteousness, anger, and negative thinking. I believe these three traits are ignited by the trait that I will address in this final article – political ideology.
Today our nation is torn by division, the church is divided, and personal relationships are crumbling due to differences in ideology. In such a state, it may be impossible to be informed and to achieve personal peace. Although we in church often greet each other with the words “peace be with you”, and we respond to each other with “and also with you”; I fear that our hearts are very far from truly wishing for peace.
Too often, it is because our views of politics and our views of God are confused as a priority. Christians often support their choice in politics by claiming support for their religious beliefs. You just have to look to the main political platforms to see …
