Governor Brown says child suicide related to isolation during the pandemic is part of the reason she vaccinated teachers before elders.
PORTLAND, Oregon – For Grade 8 student Melanie Gabriel, distance learning has taken a toll on her mental health.
Mélanie, 13, first spoke with KGW in early December during a rally for the reopening of schools.
“COVID and everything like closing schools has definitely had a huge impact on my depression,” Melanie said.
She said the isolation from her friends and the lack of practical education had led her down a dark path. KGW has heard similar stories from students and parents in Oregon.
