North Texas health leaders fear Gov. Greg Abbott (right) ‘s decision to remove mask warrants may be premature.
Dr Beth Kassanoff-Piper, president of the Dallas County Medical Society, said COVID-19 hospitalizations were at their lowest in months and every week more Texans are getting vaccinated against COVID-19, the threat of a further increase in cases is not over, especially in pockets where treatments or vaccines are not yet widely available.
“Some of the things Governor Abbott mentioned today is that we have the vaccines. We have antibody therapy. We do, but I just don’t know if all communities have the same access to all of this and I don’t want to see us back down on what we’re doing and put everyone at risk, ”Kassanoff-Piper said.
She said about 6% of the population in Texas had been vaccinated, which is nowhere near the 70-80% it takes for the herd …
